Abstract

Few artists have been as productive, innovative, or have impacted as many lives in their career as Viktor Schreckengost. For more than 50 years Viktor produced unique and emotionally evocative sculptures and watercolors, and his toys and bikes have left indelible impressions on the childhood memories of generations. His industrial design, theatrical design, and dinnerware were delightfully forward thinking and modern, and his experiments in radar helped to ensure success during WWII.

Viktor’s talents were not solely limited to invention of products and creation of fine art objects however. In fact, one of his most important legacies may the vast numbers of students who have been a part of his Industrial Design classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art. This lecture will examine these, and many other highlights of Viktor’s career.
